Langshan Chicken
originated in Nantong, China. Since 1872, it has been imported to Britain, Germany, the United States and other countries, and has contributed to the cultivation of the world-famous broiler breeds now in use.
it was deposited in the United States in p>1883 and was recognized as a standard variety. Named after the export from Langshan Port in Nantong.
After liberation, Langshan chickens were divided into black Langshan chickens and white Langshan chickens after breeding in Rudong Langshan Chicken Farm in Nantong. The appearance characteristics of this breed of chicken are: the neck is upright, the tail feathers are towering, the back is U-shaped, the chest is developed, the body is tall and the legs are long, and the feathers are magnificent and shiny. Langshan chicken is resistant to roughage, strong in adaptability and disease resistance, muscular in chest, and delicious in meat. Live chicken is very popular with consumers in the market, and the roast chicken made from it also sells well in local and Shanghai.
The feather color of Langshan chicken can be divided into pure black, yellow and white, among which black chicken is the most. Langshan chicken is U-shaped, with its head and tail upturned, flat back, short and round head, bright red face, ear leaves and fleshy droop, mainly yellow iridescence, white skin, dark brown edges and black shin. Adult chicken weight: cock 2.84 kg, hen 2.28 kg. The slaughter rate of 195-day-old semi-clean chamber: cock 82.8%, hen 8.1%; The slaughter rate of full clean chamber is 76.9% for cock and 69.4% for hen. Hens lay eggs at the age of 28, laying 16-17 eggs a year, weighing 59 grams, and the eggshells are brown.

In 1959, Jiangsu Agriculture and Forestry Department invested to build a farm in Rudong County. In the same year, Nantong Agriculture, Forestry and Water Resources Bureau also established a Langshan Chicken Farm at the foot of Langshan Mountain. The establishment of Langshan Chicken Breeding Farm played a positive role in the preservation and development of Langshan Chicken.
