How to do it?
For me, who is a foodie, it is the delicacies shown in countless movies.
In the movie, what impressed me most was that the two little girls got up at 5 o'clock in the morning to eat "pretzels", and their father told them that it was the last time they would eat their beloved "pretzels."
The two pretty little girls started to eat their beloved shortbread cookies, stuffing them into their mouths wildly, which made me swallow hard.
This snack is called Pani Puri, which is a fried hollow potato ball filled with spicy green soup (a mixture of various spices). It is particularly sour and refreshing when you put it in your mouth and bite it.
You can imagine the feeling of a mixture of mustard, chili pepper, mint, lemon, and salt exploding in your mouth.
Pani means water, and the meaning here should be sauce. Puri means stuffing, which refers to the round shape that can be filled with various small fried balls.
There are many things that can be added, and different vendors have different characteristics.
Common fillings include mashed potatoes, peppers, onions, and the obligatory pani.
The sauce must be the essence. It is mixed with many spices and hot sauce. Whether it tastes good or not depends on that mysterious sauce.
The outer texture is crispy, while the inside of the cake is soft and has a rich spicy flavor.
But I think it’s not advisable to eat too much of this snack, it’s quite heavy and too spicy.
A small number of vendors will add mango in Indian sauce. It is definitely the darkest Indian dish. Once you try it once, you will never forget it.
The first time you try it, it may make you collapse. It’s super spicy and weird, but the aftertaste is great.
This is my favorite Indian snack and I eat at least one serving every day in India.
Of course, I have also seen many Chinese people squirt immediately after eating the first one.
The raw materials include potato ball ingredients and sauce ingredients. You can fry it yourself at home, which is very convenient.
The picture below is for reference only. The one I bought is not this brand, but it should be roughly the same.
The round pieces will turn into hollow balls after deep-frying, which can be crushed with your thumb to fill with soup.
The soup ingredients are Alu Masala (red) or Pudina Pest (green) plus water.
If you are willing to go to the trouble and get a small amount of mashed potatoes stuffed into the balls, it will be more authentic.
It seems that you can also eat this kind of food in Guangzhou now, and it’s quite cheap.
