Dear leaders, teachers, and classmates:
Good afternoon! I am Zhao Yilin, a student journalist from grade 2009. I feel very honored to speak here today as a representative of outstanding student journalists. . The title of my speech today is "Being a Student Journalist with Heart".
Due to my love for literature and writing, I chose to join the school newspaper reporter team as soon as I entered the school as a freshman. After a series of selections by the school newspaper editorial department including written examinations, interviews, and internship inspections, I was fortunate enough to become a student reporter for the school newspaper. When the halo and glory of being a "journalist" gradually fade away, what is placed in front of me is a heavy responsibility on my shoulders. I often ask myself, what should I do to be an excellent student reporter? ——After nearly two years of training in the school newspaper reporter team, I feel that to be a good student reporter, you need to answer the following five questions. The first question is, have you transformed? To be a good student journalist is to complete the transition from "literary creation" to "news writing". That is to say, the transformation from literature lovers to journalists is a painful process - literature can be fictional, but news must be real. Truth is the life of news. We cannot mix in a trace of falsehood, even if it is so-called "reasonable imagination". The language of literature pays more attention to literary grace and rhythm, but news needs to be concise, clear and easy to understand. These are the insights I gained after receiving training in news writing, photography, etc. organized by the editorial department of the school newspaper and more than a year of interviewing and writing myself. Second question, are you ready? I still remember that the first time I received an interview assignment, I was very nervous when facing the interviewee, my mind went blank, and I was even a little incoherent. As you can imagine, the interview turned out to be a failure, mainly because of lack of experience and insufficient preparation. Later, the teacher asked me to be polite during interviews, prepare an interview outline in advance, contact the interview time, record the content of the interview, and even the camera angle must be carefully designed in advance. I went with the reporters who were sophomores and juniors. Although my first article was not very good, I got encouragement and affirmation from the teacher. I saw that the thin piece of manuscript paper was full of revised handwriting. Even a small punctuation mark, the forward and backward placement of a word, would be considered repeatedly. At that moment, I was both ashamed and confused. I was deeply moved. Their meticulous attitude towards writing and professionalism touched me a lot. It also made me understand the seriousness of news and the hardship of being a good reporter. The third question is, have you thought about it seriously? In the process of being a student reporter, I will encounter many problems, such as photography. In order to take good photos, I carefully read the manual of the camera, checked every button on it, and tried one by one. After many times of practice, I mastered it. The basic skills of photography can be used to complete photography tasks calmly. Teachers Li and Xu, the instructors of the press team, often communicate with our student journalists and recommend excellent articles and school newspapers from other universities for our reference and study. I remember that in May XX, I wrote a newsletter about college students’ self-employment and interviewed Du Yongqiang from the School of Ceramic Art. When I first wrote it, I somewhat exaggerated his entrepreneurial achievements and did not study some numbers in depth. Later, when I was reviewing the manuscript, Teacher Zeng called me to the office and personally helped me draw up a writing outline. He also specifically asked me to go to Du Yongqiang’s dormitory, studio and professional classroom for on-site inspections, and to contact his teachers, Classmates and business partners even called his hometown in Inner Mongolia to interview his parents and get the most comprehensive information. In the end, this nearly 3,000-word newsletter went through four interviews and seven revisions before it was finally published in the school newspaper. Fourth, are you good at digging and discovering? As a student reporter, you can't just wait for the teacher to assign tasks, but you have to take the initiative to look for news clues. I often excerpt the school bulletin board posters and write down the time and place. Whether it is a competition, artistic performance or lecture, I actively go to the scene to interview , on the one hand, I can be cultivated and grown from these activities, and on the other hand, I can rush to the scene as soon as possible and obtain first-hand valuable information for my own writing. In addition, I often take advantage of the opportunity of distributing newspapers to the dormitory to chat with my classmates and look for news clues worth interviewing from them.
