Introduction

Ben is a frustrated writer who is always drunk. Finally, he offended his last friend and subsequently lost his job. Ben got a severance package. Burned all his belongings and set off for Las Vegas. There, the bar is open 24 hours a day. He was determined to die drunk there. In Las Vegas, pimp Yuri captures prostitute Sarah and forces her to return to her old profession. Ben drove drunkenly to Las Vegas and nearly ran over Sarah. The next day, the two met again and spent a tender night together. Sarah felt infinite love and affection for Ben.

Yuri was captured by the mafia, and Sarah was free. Sarah let Ben move into her apartment and promised not to talk him out of drinking. Sarah accepted the fact that Ben was determined to drink himself to death and even gave him a bottle of wine to keep with him. In a bar, a motorcycle girl came to tease Ben, but Ben was severely beaten by the motorcycle girl's boyfriend. Ben is unhappy because Sarah continues to be a prostitute.

Sarah asked Ben to see a doctor, but Ben inexplicably refused. Sarah went out to work, while Ben went gambling and won the lottery. He also gained the favor of a prostitute and took her back to his apartment. Sarah is furious when she comes home and finds Ben in bed with a prostitute. In a rage, she kicked Ben out. Sarah met several young men with bad conduct, who gang-raped Sarah and beat her up. When Sarah returned to her residence, her miserable condition shocked the landlord, who asked Sarah to move out immediately. At this moment, Ben called, and Sarah rushed to his side and found him dying in a tavern in the slums. The two finally reconciled.

At dawn the next day, Ben died.

Review of "Leaving Las Vegas":

"Leaving Las Vegas" tells the story of a frustrated playwright who went to Las Vegas and drank to death. , the film is adapted from John O'Brien's novel of the same name. This is O'Brien's only work, and it also seems to be a summary and prophecy of O'Brien's life. Just a few days before the novel was published, he suddenly committed suicide without leaving any last words.

This is a sad, almost desperate work. The film shows a mood of "finding no reason to live". There is no compelling reason for Ben's behavior, but simply self-destruction in despair. He also didn't change after meeting Sarah. The shots, plots and characters all seem to be wandering in a trance-like, bustling night scene in the bustling night scene, making Las Vegas like a dream-like city of decay.

The film embodies a profoundly sad atmosphere, showing endless despair in its magnificence. Even the love between Ben and Sarah shown in the film has an air of despair. However, this true and beautiful love also made the audience feel a little warm in their hearts. While experiencing the despair of the characters in the play, I also faintly felt a little warmth. If not, this film would really drive you mad with pain and despair. The helpless and lonely despair reflected in the film deeply touched the hearts of every audience. The director of the film was once a rock musician, and he alone held the three important positions of screenwriter, director and soundtrack. In the film, he uses rich and intense colors, interspersed with brief over-exposed shots and melancholy and sad music to create an intoxicating and poignant world on the screen.

Nicolas Cage, who plays the male protagonist Ben, fully utilized his acting skills in the film, creating a low-key and gloomy character. His expression of the despair in the characters' hearts is extremely touching.

He won two Best Actor titles, the Golden Globe Award and the Academy Award for this. His deeply rooted performance added an endless tragic atmosphere to the film. The success of the film also made Nicolas Cage one of the most high-profile movie stars in Hollywood.
