Putian College (referred to as Puyuan) is a full-time undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of Education. It is the patriotic education base of China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, the research base of Mazu folk sports culture of the State Sports General Administration, the research and exchange base of Mazu culture on both sides of Taiwan Federation, and the research base of Mazu culture of the Institute of History of China Academy of Social Sciences.

It is the president unit of Fujian Mazu Culture Research Association. The school is located in Putian, and the current party secretary Weng Ruoping and the principal Zhou Ruixiang. [1] The school motto is "Virtue, erudition, prudence and perseverance".

As of May 2022, the school has two campuses, Xueyuan Campus and Zixiao Campus, with a total area of 4,636.8 mu and a construction area of 765,438+0.70 million square meters. There are 40 laboratories, including 8 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, 5 provincial experimental teaching platforms for basic courses, 3 provincial virtual simulation experimental teaching centers, 304 practice training bases, directly affiliated hospitals 1, 4 non-directly affiliated hospitals and 38 teaching practice hospitals.

There are 17 secondary colleges, 56 undergraduate majors, provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites 1 1, 2 national first-class undergraduate courses, 73 provincial first-class undergraduate courses, national ideological and political demonstration courses 1 and provincial ideological and political demonstration courses 1. There are 32 scientific research and innovation platforms at or above the provincial level, including 1 platform of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and 2 provincial "20 1 1" collaborative innovation centers.

At present, there are 1 think tank with provincial characteristics, 1 provincial public service platform, 1 provincial Industry-University-Research demonstration base,1provincial key laboratory, 6 provincial engineering (technology) research centers, 8 provincial humanities and social science bases and 2 provincial academician expert workstations. The predecessor of Putian College was the training class for nurses attached to Xinghua Shengjiao Hospital, which was founded in 1898. The school was formed by the merger of the former Putian College, the former Fujian Medical University Putian Branch and the former Putian Overseas Chinese Sports Normal School, and was merged into Xianyou Normal School on June 20 13.
