Zhou Xun, Chief Physician, Department of Nephrology Nowadays, the prevalence of chronic kidney disease is so high, and the reasons are multi-faceted. Among them, unreasonable dietary habits often act as an accomplice to kidney disease and uremia, intentionally or unintentionally.
If we continue to maintain this eating habit, our kidneys may not be preserved.
In order to protect our kidneys, try to eat as little or as little as possible the following five foods.
1. Salted fish and bacon. The World Health Organization has clearly stated that salted fish and bacon and other pickled foods are classified as Category 1 carcinogens, which increase people’s risk of cancer, especially nasopharyngeal cancer and gastric cancer.
The evidence for the Class 1 carcinogens mentioned here, that is, causing human cancer, is very clear. These substances really cause cancer.
Of course, it doesn’t mean you will get cancer if you eat it just once.
And our friends with kidney disease cannot eat it. The reason why we cannot eat it is that in addition to causing cancer, it can also cause blood pressure to increase and/or aggravate and cause edema, thereby worsening the condition.
2. High-salt value snacks such as salted melon seeds and plums. The salt content in a small bag of salted melon seeds is about 22 grams. The salt content in every 10 plums (about 35 grams, the edible part is 14 grams) is 3.4-4.2 grams.
, the salt content of per 100 grams of preserved apricots and other preserved fruits is about 2.2-2.6 grams.
There are also various other snacks, most of which are "high-salt value" foods.
Some snacks may taste sweet and mistakenly believe that they are not high in salt, but in fact they are definitely "high in salt" snacks.
If you eat these snacks regularly, it will inevitably lead to excessive salt intake, which will affect or aggravate blood pressure, thereby becoming an accomplice to kidney disease and uremia.
3. Sauce-based delicacies such as chili sauce and bean paste are also indispensable on many family tables and can be enjoyed at your fingertips. Just from the taste, you can tell that they contain high salt content, and many people are making them.
When cooking, some sauce will be put on it, which inadvertently increases the salt in the dish. The salt that should be added has already been added when cooking. If you add a few tablespoons of ketchup, chili sauce or bean paste, the salt will be lost.
Seriously exceeded the standard.
Because the salt content of a small tablespoon of tomato sauce reaches 1.0-2.0 grams, these sauce delicacies are definitely "high-salt value" foods.
This type of food is also an accomplice to kidney disease and uremia.
4. Processed foods containing trans fatty acids. Foods containing trans fatty acids mainly come from processed foods. The trans fatty acids are mainly produced during the hydrogenation and refining process of vegetable oils.
These processed foods containing trans fatty acids include plant-based butter, potato chips, salad dressings, some biscuits, cakes, some breads, cookies, ice cream, chips and instant noodle soups.
There are more Western-style fast food such as French fries and fried chicken legs. These foods mainly use partially hydrogenated vegetable oil.
Many processed foods contain very high levels of trans fatty acids, such as margarine, which is 7.1% to 17.7% (the highest is 31.9%), and shortening, which is 10.3% (the highest is 38.4%).
Frequent consumption of foods containing trans fatty acids is very harmful. The greatest harm of trans fatty acids to the human body is cardiovascular diseases, including increased blood lipids, blood viscosity, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, etc., and it can also inhibit the growth and development of infants and young children.
, and can even cause bowel cancer.
The impact on patients with kidney disease is mainly manifested in increasing the risk of death from chronic kidney disease.
5. Protein powder health products. Many friends like to eat health foods, especially protein powder health products.
Although protein is an essential nutrient for the human body, it is beneficial for people with malnutrition to consume some nutritional products containing protein powder.
For our friends with kidney disease, if we eat too much protein, it will invisibly increase the burden on the kidneys during the metabolic process.
The long-term high-load operation of the kidneys may result in worsening of the disease and worsening the situation.
Most people with kidney disease are not suitable for taking protein powder health products.
We have found that it is not uncommon for friends with kidney disease to have their existing kidney disease worsen in a short period of time or even suffer from irreversible kidney failure due to the consumption of high-protein health products.
As for the above five types of delicacies, it is okay to taste them only occasionally, and generally it will not have much impact; if you eat them frequently or eat too much at one time, it will be very harmful to the kidneys.
