Donkey-hide gelatin, ginseng, and velvet antler are also called the "three treasures" of traditional Chinese medicine. They are named after they are produced in Laodong'a County (now Dong'a Town, Pingyin County) . Now Dong'e Town has been recognized as the "Hometown of E-Jiao in China" and has the "E-Jiao Origin" mark certification.

The donkey-hide gelatin industry in Dong'e Town has been extremely prosperous since ancient times and reached its peak during the Xianfeng period of the Qing Dynasty.
