Hancheng Ancient City, located at the junction of Shaanxi and Shanxi provinces, is one of the most intact ancient cities in Ming and Qing Dynasties in China. In the same year as Lijiang and Pingyao, it was selected as a national historical and cultural city. Although Hancheng is far less famous than the first two ancient cities, it is still widely praised in Shaanxi and its surrounding areas. Especially in the past two years, in order to develop the tourism industry, the ancient city of Hancheng and the scenic spots in the city are open to tourists free of charge, attracting many tourists.

Walking on the streets of Hancheng ancient city, it is hard not to notice a kind of "strange" food-pepper yogurt. Mom's pepper and sour and sweet yogurt have different audiences, but it is strange to combine these two ingredients just by imagination.

So when we first visited this ancient city, we didn't intend to taste it. After all, all kinds of "dark dishes" emerge one after another. In fact, they are just gimmicks, and they are not delicious. But then I really saw too many shops selling pepper yogurt, and even put up the signboard of "Hancheng specialty". So we finally couldn't hold back and decided to buy two bottles to try.

The packaging of Hancheng pepper yogurt is different from ordinary yogurt, it is bottled in glass. The color of yogurt is also slightly dark gray, which is probably the reason for mixing pepper. The taste has an extra surprise, the overall tone of sour and sweet is a little numb, and the taste is surprisingly harmonious. This is a very special taste, which I personally think is quite delicious. Of course, this may also be related to my liking for spicy taste.

Originally, I was wondering why Hancheng people make such magical foods as Chili and yogurt. Later, after chatting with the villagers in the ancient city, I realized that the peppers in Hancheng are very famous and have been planted for thousands of years. They are also known as the "hometown of peppers in China". Hancheng Dahongpao Zanthoxylum bungeanum is a "geographical indication protection product" certified by the Ministry of Agriculture and enjoys a good reputation throughout the country. Perhaps it is because the peppers here are so famous that Hancheng has made this strange mixed yogurt. Although the first impression is a kind of "dark cuisine", after the real taste, the personal feeling is still worth tasting.
