I went to Shunde for the food, but I became a fan of this little-known hometown of humanity with thousands of years of history.

Perhaps the reputation of "Shunde Food" is so great that it has somewhat obscured the charm of Huanglian, the "hometown of humanity for thousands of years".

We walked through the streets and alleys to check out delicious food, and were deeply attracted by Huanglian's southern water town scenery with Lingnan characteristics.

In Huanglian, there is a saying that "one river, seven crossings and nine archways" perfectly encompasses the ancient charm and cultural heritage of the ancient town.

A "Mother River" with rippling blue waves flows slowly, surrounding the entire Coptis chinensis.

Small bridges and flowing water, towering ancient banyan trees, and green bricks and gray tiles are all arranged in an orderly manner, giving it a primitive and charming "Shunde Little Suzhou" scenery.

In ancient times, Huanglian people basically traveled by water, taking boats and ferries. This mode of travel was conducive to gathering merchants and driving the prosperity of Shunde's sericulture economy.

The most famous He Yiyan Pier in Huanglian Village was originally an important ancient ferry.

Three stone lions that have been watching here for more than 600 years lie quietly on the river embankment, witnessing the decline of waterway transportation, and even witnessing the prosperity and changes of Huanglian.

Today, Huanglian Village only retains environmentally friendly boats for daily cleaning and Huanglian's characteristic entertainment project - Dragon Lice. Other boats are not allowed to pass except under special circumstances.

The so-called "dragon lice" was originally a daily pastime of our parents when they were young. In the 1960s, it bid farewell to the world with the decline of the Coptis chinensis yarn industry.

Fortunately, the old man He Dongcheng of Huanglian had no intention of inserting a willow and reborn the "disappeared dragon louse".

He is a carpenter and is a dragon boat enthusiast. Since he was often exposed to dragon lice as a child, he has a deep affection for dragon boats.

Because the shape of the original dragon louse was not beautiful enough and it was too difficult to drive, Uncle Cheng improved it into a "small dragon boat for one person" that looks more like a dragon boat.

At first, Uncle Cheng just gave it to his Hongquan disciples to play with. Unexpectedly, the appearance of Leliu Longyan during the Dragon Boat Festival brought the Dragonfly, which had been hidden for 65 years, back to Huanglian.

In Huanglian Village, there are many inheritances and memories like Long Liao.

Behind the archways and ancestral halls are legends written by Huanglian people one after another.

Ancient buildings can be seen everywhere on the old streets, and there are also many small shops in the style of the 1980s and 1990s. It instantly makes you feel like you are a kid again.

Located opposite He Yiyan Pier, there is a white building that perfectly combines modern design and Lingnan style - Lianxi B&B.

The location of the B&B was originally where two adjacent old handshake buildings were located. When the B&B owner renovated it, on the basis of retaining the local ancient buildings in Leliu Huanglian, he incorporated a lot of modern design styles, both old and new, making it a popular choice for outsiders.

The best place to stay overnight when visiting Huanglian.

The lobby of the B&B is spacious and bright. At first glance, it looks quite simple, but everyone knows that there are details everywhere, all conveying the owner's feelings for the ancient charm of Coptidis: fish bone lamps, glazed windows, wooden coffee tables, old wooden chairs, national style murals... The lobby

The floor-to-ceiling window faces the pier, which is a typical nostalgic water town scenery, which also coincides with the name of "Lianxi B&B".

When it rains, a hazy nostalgic filter is added.

Not only the lobby, but also the entire Lianxi B&B was renovated, using a large number of floor-to-ceiling windows, so that Huanglian’s unique water town scenery and ancient brick and tile houses can be fully enjoyed inside.

What’s even more clever is that the manager also specially designed a hammock in the river view room on the second floor, so that every visitor can fall asleep in the slowly swaying hammock with the sound of water, as if floating on the stream.

Next, the experience is very unique.

I have to admit that the longer I stay in Leliu Huanglian Village, the more I understand the meaning of the folk name "Shunde Little Suzhou".

Every plant, every tree, every street and alley here carries traces of the passage of time.
