Suzhou has been a paradise on earth in the south of the Yangtze River since ancient times. Thousands of years of cultural and historical heritage have been gathered here, and unique cultural customs and traditional elements have been formed here. Suzhou has preserved many ancient gardens and ancient towns and is an excellent tourist destination.
The first day’s itinerary: day trip to Pingjiang Road + night trip to Shantang Street
Pingjiang Road: 2,500 years of history. Although it has been renovated, the whole place still retains the original flavor of Suzhou. Tour time: 2 hours. Walk along the stone road and feel the slow life in Suzhou and the ancient charm of the Jiangnan water town. Because it is winter, it starts to get dark at 5 o'clock. Before departure, I experienced the pedestrian street in night view mode and the small bridge and flowing water under the lights.
Shantang Street: Known as the "No. 1 Street in Suzhou", it is a typical street in Suzhou. The main streets have a strong commercial atmosphere and are characterized by night views and snacks. The red lanterns, old houses, and ancient canals on the street inherit the classical beauty of the night.
The next day’s itinerary: Suzhou Museum + Hanshan Temple
Suzhou Museum: Make a reservation on the official website first, and then enter the park with your ID card (closed on Mondays). Tour duration: 1.5 hours. The architectural style of Subo is integrated with the local traditional architectural style, mainly featuring white walls, black tiles and design elements of Suzhou gardens. After visiting many garden-style buildings and experiencing Subo up close, I couldn’t help but sigh, it’s worth a visit.
Hanshan Temple: Probably because of a poem "Night Mooring on the Maple Bridge" by the Tang Dynasty poet Zhang Ji, many tourists want to uncover the mystery of Hanshan Temple. Tickets are 20 yuan, tour duration: 1 hour, mainly temples, and the walls are mainly yellow. The courtyard is full of autumn scenery, and you can go in to worship Buddha and ring bells. There is a flour wall behind the main hall and there are relatively few attractions.
Note: The overpass opposite Hanshan Temple is Qiao Feng Scenic Area. It happens to be open for free when you go, so you can visit it together.
