Tiantai Guoqing Temple is located on Jiji Road, Guoqing Temple Village, Tiantai County, Taizhou City.

Tiantai Guoqing Temple was built in the 18th year of Emperor Kaihuang's reign in the Sui Dynasty (598). It was first named Tiantai Temple. Later, it was renamed Guoqing Temple after "if the temple is completed, the country will be clear".

The temple covers an area of ??73,000 square meters.

Guoqing Temple in Tiantai, Zhejiang, Lingyan Temple in Jinan, Qixia Temple in Nanjing, and Yuquan Temple in Dangyang are also known as the Four Unique Temples in China.

The architecture of Guoqing Temple is majestic and solemn, forming four architectural axes.

The central axis is the Shanmen Maitreya Hall (the Gate Shrine), the Bell and Drum Tower, the Yuhua Hall (the Hall of the Four Heavenly Kings) and the Main Hall.

The west axis is Anyang Hall, Sansheng Hall, Luohan Hall (Cultural Relics Room), and Miaofa Hall (the upper floor is the Sutra Pavilion).

The east axis is Juxian Hall (monk dining room), Abbot Tower and Ying Tower Tower.

The second east axis is Li Ke Hall, Da Che Hall and Xiu Zhuxuan.
