Lidu District of Fuling City governs the town. Shilin town was built in the Chongzhen period of Ming Dynasty, and was named Junzi Town in the 23rd year of Qing Qianlong (1758). Later, it was renamed shilin town, 1958 was changed to commune, 1983 was restored to town, and 1992 was merged into Wuma and Longmen townships. Located in the southwest of the district, 24 kilometers away from the district government, with an area of 82.3 square kilometers and a population of 24,000. The Yangtze River passes through the territory, and Lin 'an (Maanshan) Highway and Fu 'ling (Zeng 'fu) Highway pass through the territory. It has jurisdiction over 25 village committees in Shuangjing, Fengyang, Da Qiao, Changhe, Sanjin, Minxin, Zhu Jin, Guandou, Huangling, Dalin, Li Xiang, Wafangdong, Qisheng, Bamboo Forest, Tonggu, Riyue, Feishui, Song Wan, Taoyuan, Yongtai, Lan Zhi, Fan Min, Minsheng, Song Yin, Yongan, Dongjie and Dachong. Township enterprises have chemical industry, building materials, auto repair, casting, shipbuilding, agricultural machinery, tea making and other factories. Agriculture mainly produces rice, corn and wheat. The cash crops are mainly rapeseed, sericulture, citrus and tea, as well as special vegetables and tobacco leaves. _.

On 20th11July15th, shilin town was selected as the second batch of national famous scenic towns (villages).

2014,21,shilin town has been designated as a national key town by seven ministries including the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.

20 15 On February 28th, the Central Civilization Committee decided to award Shilin the title of the 4th National Civilized Village and Town.

2016101,shilin town was recognized as the first batch of characteristic towns in China by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.

On June 22nd, 2020, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development named shilin town as 20 19 National Garden Town.
