Most people would feel that there is nothing particularly delicious about today’s food.
It seems that it is not as good as when I was a child. The food I ate when I was a child seems to be particularly fragrant and delicious.
Why is this?
There are three main reasons: First: Food was scarce at that time, especially food such as meat, eggs, milk, candies, and so on. There were few opportunities to eat, and things were rare and valuable, which meant that the memory was profound and unforgettable.
For example, when I was a child, I ate very little meat. Only during the Chinese New Year could I indulge in meat, braised pork, stewed pork ribs, and stewed pig trotters. How beautiful!
So my little one loves Chinese New Year. In fact, most of the reason is that there are delicious food during the Chinese New Year.
Second: At that time, most of the food was green and organic.
When I was a child, rural people grew their own vegetables and grains using farmyard manure, and there was no such thing as pesticides or chemical fertilizers.
Therefore, the vegetables and grains grown are very delicious.
Now, there are reports every day that pesticides and fertilizers exceed standards, and so on.
I know a fellow villager who rents land to grow vegetables, but they never eat them themselves. They say they can't eat them because eating them is bad for their health.
There are even more vegetable farmers who grow vegetables separately for their own consumption and for sale.
And most of us who can’t grow vegetables and rely on buying vegetables eat vegetables that the growers themselves don’t eat. So, how can they be delicious?
Third: The proliferation of food varieties and methods, especially preparations, has seriously damaged the human body's sense of taste. That is to say, your taste system has been disordered, resulting in that even if it is delicious, you cannot feel it.
To sum up, the great abundance and poor quality of food, as well as the destruction of taste buds, have led to people now eating tables full of "delicacies from mountains and seas" but not feeling delicious and satisfied.
