The shrimp thread is the intestinal tract of the shrimp and is the organ of excretion. For health reasons, it is better to go to the shrimp shop. It doesn’t matter if you’re not particular about it, because the cooked shrimps after removing the shrimp threads will taste very loose and inelastic. It doesn’t matter if the shrimp is on the shrimp line or not. Crayfish and other larger shrimps do not need to be deveined before cooking. When they're completely edible, they're deveined.
The meat of shrimps without shrimp threads is relatively loose, and shrimps without shrimp threads will taste a bit bitter or fishy. This is the difference between going to the shrimp line or not.
How to remove shrimp threads
1. Prepare toothpicks to pick out shrimp threads. From the joint between the shrimp head and body (the joint between shrimp head and body is counted as one joint), use a toothpick to pass through the shrimp body at the third joint.
Take the shrimp in one hand and a toothpick in the other, and gently pick out the shrimp lines.
Method 2:
The result of picking is that the shrimp lines close to the shrimp heads will be picked out first.
Slowly pull the shrimp line with your hands, and all the ends of the shrimp line near the tail will be pulled out.
There is a super sharp thorn in the middle of the top of the shrimp head. It must be cut off, otherwise it may pierce your hands or mouth.
