Pasay, located in the northeast of Makati, is one of the first four cities in Manila metropolitan area. Because of its proximity to Manila, Pasay developed rapidly into a developed area during the American occupation. Manila International Airport, located in Pasay, is the international airport in Manila metropolitan area. Pasay also has SM Mall of Asia, the largest shopping center in Asia, which is one of the landmarks of Pasay. In addition, landmark buildings such as the Philippine Cultural Center (CCP), Star City, Coconut Palace and Japanese Consulate are also located in Pasay.
Surrounding attractions include Bai Sheng Beach, Manila Bay and Manila Ocean Park, which are all important attractions in Manila metropolitan area.
