Donggang City No. 1 Middle School, formerly known as Gushan Middle School, was inscribed by Mr. Guo Moruo. The school was founded in 1929 and has a history of nearly 80 years. It is one of the earliest schools in Dandong and even Liaoning Province. It is the first school in Donggang City.

The middle school is one of the eight earliest provincial key middle schools in Liaoning Province.
