When traveling to Xiamen, is Jimei Mei Village outside the island worth visiting?

When mentioning Xiamen, everyone will think of Xiamen University. This resounding business card of the city has been deeply imprinted in the hearts of every Chinese. However, for students of Xiamen University, there is such a great man who they will never forget.

Mr. Tan Kah Kee, as the founder of Xiamen University, is a native of Xiamen. As early as his youth, he left his hometown to start an industry. He is a famous educator, industrialist and social activist.

I have always had great respect for such great men of the era. During this trip to Xiamen, I came to the Tan Kah Kee Memorial Resort to have a glimpse of the great men of this generation.

The Tan Kah Kee Memorial Resort is mainly composed of six major parts: the Mastiff Garden, the former residence of Mr. Tan Kah Kee, the Tan Kah Kee Life and Deeds Exhibition Hall, the Return Hall and the Return Garden.

We first came to the Mastiff Garden. Under the blue sky and white clouds, there was a majestic and independent building, which gave rise to the sense of magnificence.

The exterior walls of the building are carved with exquisite reliefs, telling historical stories and showing the spirit of ingenuity at a glance.

The Mastiff Garden is divided into three parts: the porch, Jimei Liberation Monument and Tan Kah Kee’s tomb. The moment I saw the tombstone, I was in awe and couldn’t help but pay tribute to the great man of the generation.

Moving to the former residence of Mr. Tan Kah Kee, an exquisite small western-style building comes into view. The blue and white walls show elegance and vividly interpret Mr. Tan Kah Kee's taste.

There are many bonsai placed in front of the small foreign-style building, creating a sense of prosperity. Even if the great man has passed away, the spirit still stands.

In contrast, the Tan Kah Kee Life and Deeds Exhibition Hall looks more primitive. The two old bicycles in front of the door instantly bring people back to the 1990s.

The first floor of the exhibition hall is divided into three floors. The museum reproduces the scenes of Mr. Tan Kah Kee’s hard work and entrepreneurship in his life. Here, you can feel the multi-faceted nature of Tan Kah Kee. He was not only a patriotic person who saved the country through industry, but also an educator.

He is an educator and at the same time a revolutionary who is not afraid of danger. This versatility makes Mr. Tan Kah Kee fuller and full of admiration.

Then we came to the Return Garden, which is mainly composed of two parts: the Return Hall and the Tan Kah Kee Sculpture Garden. Under the spectacular sculpture group, the four characters "Tao Li Fang Fei" are particularly shocking. This is the most sincere evaluation of a generation of educators.

Wandering into the garden, the scenery is endless. The majestic statues, like the towering coconut trees, remain standing in people's hearts.

Also worth seeing is the Tan Kah Kee Memorial Hall. The exterior design of the memorial hall is unique, and the combination of strong island style and Huizhou architectural style is refreshing.

Under the sunlight, the red tiles show their simple beauty, and the streamlined eaves design adds a bit of fashion element to the memorial hall. This is destined to be a collision of beauty and culture.
