Ningxiang City is a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Hunan Province and is managed by Changsha City, Hunan Province.
It is located on the west side of the lower reaches of the Xiangjiang River and the southern edge of Dongting Lake in the north-eastern part of Hunan. It has a unique geographical location and belongs to the subtropical continental monsoon humid area with four distinct seasons and abundant rainfall.
The city has a total area of ??2,906 square kilometers and a registered population of more than 1.41 million.
Ningxiang City has a long history. Xinyang County was established as early as the Three Kingdoms period, and the history of counties began from then on.
In the first year of Zhenguan of the Tang Dynasty, Ningxiang County was established because of the meaning of "peace in the countryside".
In the second year of Taiping and Xingguo's reign in the Song Dynasty, the county was established and attached to Changsha County in Tan.
After the founding of New China, Ningxiang was once under the jurisdiction of Yiyang and Xiangtan, and was placed under the jurisdiction of Changsha City in 1983.
