1. Shadow Play

Shadow Play was produced in the Song Dynasty about 1 years ago, and spread in Taiwan Province for 2 years. It originated in Kaohsiung County and prevailed in the early Qing Dynasty, commonly known as "Monkey Play".

The performance time is mostly at night, and the stage is about ten feet high. The white cloth is hung as the curtain at the front desk, and the shadow play is projected on the curtain. Leather figurines are about a foot to a foot and a half high. They are made by kneading animal skins into translucent shapes, then carving human figures, coloring them, coating them with tung oil to increase their transparency, and then grinding them flat.

The head can be changed, and the shadows are finely crafted. The portrait itself is a handicraft. The composition of the troupe is very capable, with one leading actor, one supporting actor and one singer, and about four musicians.

2. Snacks in Taiwan Province

There is a famous "snack" culture in Taiwan Province's food culture, and the night market with various snacks is one of the representatives of the life culture of ordinary people in Taiwan Province.

Common snacks include oyster omelet, fried chicken chops, stinky tofu, salted crispy chicken, fried bun, rice and blood cake, oyster noodles, tempura, braised pork rice, meatballs, noodles with diced pork, beef noodles and steamed buns. 3. Confucius' Birthday Ceremony

Confucius, the sage, has a very special position in Taiwan Province's folk beliefs. The early ceremony of offering sacrifices to Confucius was held in spring and autumn, and later it was held on the anniversary of Confucius' birthday on September 28 of the lunar calendar every year, and this day was determined as Teacher's Day. There are twelve Confucius temples in Taiwan Province, the largest of which is the Confucius Temple in Taipei, which is located in the west of Taipei Yuanshan Zoo.

On the day of the Confucius Memorial Ceremony, a grand and solemn ceremony will be held, in which not only the teachers and students of the school will attend, but also all government officials at all levels will attend to show respect for teachers and respect for education.

4. Mid-Autumn Festival Purdue Festival

The 15th day of July in the lunar calendar, commonly known as "Mid-Autumn Festival", also known as "Orchid Festival" and "Ghost Festival", is a day for people to pay homage to the souls of their ancestors and an extremely important festival for Taoist and Buddhist believers.

In this big festival, every household in rural Taiwan Province will kill pigs and sheep, prepare extremely rich wine and meat sacrifices, worship ancestors and ghosts of the underworld, and hope to "Purdue" all beings and the undead.

In Taiwan Province, the most common legend is that every year in the early morning of July 1st of the lunar calendar, the ghost gate is opened in the underworld, so that all the ghosts who suffered in the underworld can return to the afterlife to visit their hometown and future generations. People in the afterlife are unified on July 15th to hold a big farewell ceremony for all the ghosts and let them enjoy a feast. By July 3th, when the holiday was over, these ghosts returned to the underworld.

5. Drinking tea

Tea is a traditional drink of Taiwan Province people. Tea is produced all over Taiwan Province. The famous teas are Frozen Top Oolong Tea, Wenshan Baozhong Tea, Oriental Beauty Tea and Tieguanyin Tea. The main form of tea art is kungfu tea. Foamed black tea culture is a new development of Taiwanese tea culture, and bubble tea, a representative tea, is very popular.
