Twenty years ago, there was only one Chinatown in New York, located in Lower Manhattan.

There are now three new Chinatowns, one in Flushing, Queens, and two in Sheepshead Bay and Sunset Park, Brooklyn.

Chinatown runs across Manhattan in the east-west direction, occupying Mott Street, Bayard Street, and Pell Street.

The population of this area is 22,000, mainly Cantonese.
