The 15th day of the first month, also known as Shangyuan Festival and Lantern Festival, is also known as "off-year" or "Lantern Festival". The wind of large-scale lantern viewing in Zhao County, Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province is not very popular. Some well-off people hang special exotic lanterns at the door for people to enjoy. In order to wish a bumper harvest in agriculture, every year in Zhaozhuang, Yangjiazhuang and other villages, fireworks are set off in the open space outside the village on the night of the fifteenth day of the first month, which is colorful and red, and nearby villagers gather to watch. As usual, newly-married women will go back to their parents' homes to spend their "off-year". Some families take their new son-in-law home for "fifteen days", and their neighbors and relatives invite the newly-married couples to their homes in turn to decorate and entertain them. On the night of the fifteenth day of the first month, all families broke off clumps of pine and cypress branches and lit bonfires outside the door. The pine and cypress crackled and the whole family warmed up around the fire, which was called "roasted cypress fire".
