1. Taihu Bridge

This is the only way to Xishan Island. Taihu Lake is 4,308 meters long and has 181 bridge holes, divided into three sections. Each section has its own characteristics: Bridge No. 1 is the longest and Bridge No. 2 is the highest (even the largest seven-masted fishing boat in Taihu Lake can pass through the central bridge hole). Bridge No. 3 is the most exquisite and is built near the water.

The white Taihu Lake Bridge is like a jade belt, rippling, and like a flying silver chain, winding between the islands. This bridge blends into the scenery of Taihu Lake and is majestic. If the time is right, you can enjoy the magnificent sunrise and sunset views of Taihu Lake.

The ancient village smells most like fireworks in the early morning. After enjoying the sunrise at Taihu Bridge, we drove to the ancient village of East Village to see the Jiangnan of the past.

2. Dongcun Ancient Village

Dongcun Ancient Village is one of the first batch of traditional villages in Jiangsu Province. According to legend, at the end of the Qin Dynasty and the beginning of the Han Dynasty, Dong, one of the "Four Good Lords", lived here in seclusion, so it was named Dongyuan Village, or Dongcun for short.

The landmark building of the ancient village is the Xu Ancestral Hall. The Xu Ancestral Hall was built by Xu Lianxi, a generation of Confucian businessmen in the ancient village of Dongcun. The entire building is solemn and majestic. It is a well-preserved ancient building from the Qing Dynasty. The brick carvings of Xu's ancestral hall are made of exquisite materials, exquisite carvings, lifelike characters, ancient meanings and superb skills.

The bluestone-paved path runs through the entire East Village. There are simple ancient villages on both sides of the trail. Walking through the ancient lanes and streets is like walking slowly through a tunnel of time. The flowers and fruits on the branches, lazy animals, simple villagers, and friendly local accents slowly unfold a peaceful pastoral picture.

After shopping In Dongcun Ancient Village, I recommend you go to Xishan Town, find a noodle shop, eat a bowl of seasonal mutton noodles, and then go to the next attraction.

Linwu Cave is known as the "Ninth Cave in the World". According to historical records, Dayu came to Linwu Cave when he was controlling floods and hid the Book of Heaven (Pingshu) in the stone house inside the cave. Forest Cave is a limestone underground hall-like cave. The cave is as wide as a building and the roof is as flat as a house, hence the name "Lin House". It is also called "Dragon's Lair" because its body resembles a dragon.

The temperature in the forest cave remains unchanged all year round, so walking into the cave will feel warm in winter and cool in summer. There are holes in the cave, sometimes narrow, sometimes narrow, sometimes open, which are both quiet and deep, both curved and folded, mysterious and confusing.

Climb up the mountain and get out of the cave, overlooking the scenery of Taihu Lake. The fishing sails are all gone, the birds in the forest are returning to their nests, and the smoke is curling up in the mountains. One of the top ten ancient sceneries in Xishan is "Night Smoke in the Forest".
