Jiexi County is located in the west of Jieyang City, Guangdong Province, in the northwest of Chaoshan Plain in eastern Guangdong Province, in the middle and upper reaches of Rongjiang South River, with Jiedong District in the east, Puning City in the south, Luhe County in the southwest, Wuhua County in the northwest and Fengshun County in the north.

Jiexi County is a famous old revolutionary base area and hometown of overseas Chinese in China, and it is also one of the old revolutionary base areas in Guangdong Province. In the 14th year of the Republic of China (1925), the Eastern Expedition Army led by Zhou Enlai came here twice. It is a place where tide and guest mingle. There are 68, overseas Chinese and compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, accounting for 67.36% of the county's total population.
