Nanwan Monkey Island: the kingdom of macaques, with its local conditions and customs.
Nanwan Monkey Island is actually a peninsula surrounded by the sea on three sides. Just arrived from Sanya. It is convenient to go to the shore by boat, so it looks like an island. In addition to the superior tropical island ecological environment, macaque characteristic resources, excellent seawater and coastal beaches, there are unique folk customs such as Xincun fishing port and Shuijiajia. It is a unique scenic spot in Hainan Island and even the whole country, and it is well worth visiting.
the ticket we booked in official website, Monkey Island, is 143 yuan/person (original price is 163 yuan), including the big ticket for the scenic spot, the ticket for Monkey Island Park, the scenic spot transportation (round-trip ticket, battery car, cross-sea cableway), and the free shuttle bus from high-speed railway station and Lingshui to the scenic spot. Please note that after getting off at Lingshui Station, you can only book tickets on this website or buy tickets directly on the shuttle bus at Nanwan Monkey Island. Take the high-speed train from Sanya to Lingshui Station, 19 yuan/person (second class). If you book a ticket to the scenic spot in official website, you can find the shuttle bus to Nanwan Monkey Island after getting off the bus. Show the booking SMS and you can ride for free. After arriving at the scenic spot, you can pick up the ticket by SMS at the designated window of the ticket office. The transportation from Sanya to Monkey Island takes almost one and a half hours, so it is still ample to leave early and arrange a whole day. It is 6 kilometers from Sanya to Nanwan Monkey Island Scenic Area, and take a taxi to 35 yuan. The price is still very high, if there are four people sharing it equally, we can consider it.
when we arrived at the dock, we looked at the opposite peninsula, just like an island in the sea. We feel close at hand, but across the vast sea. There are two ways to get into Monkey Island. You can take a boat to the pier on the opposite peninsula, then take the scenic sightseeing bus to Nanwan Monkey Island, or take the sightseeing cableway directly to the scenic spot, and the return trip is the same. If we choose the sightseeing cableway for both trips, it is equivalent to going directly to and from the pier and Monkey Island Scenic Area, and we can't go anywhere else, so we choose to take a boat and come back by cableway.
Nanwan Monkey Island has a history of several hundred years. Because of the establishment of Nanwan Monkey Island Scenic Area, the number of tourists has gradually increased, and the life of fishermen is still primitive. People here have lived here for generations, and they still live like this with or without tourists. It's just that there are more tourists, selling seafood and opening restaurants here has increased income. In fact, only by slightly touching the original appearance of our life will we temporarily forget that this is a tourist city. We approached them not for sightseeing, but for feeling.
When you get to the peninsula where the South Bay Monkey Island is located, you can take the sightseeing bus Scenic Area and go east. If you go west, there is also a beautiful Nanbo Bay, and now a marine ecological park has been built, which is a pure natural marine ecological reserve. It's far from the pier, so you should buy tickets for scenic spots and sightseeing separately. If you want to visit Nanbo Bay and Monkey Island, it will take at least two days. We didn't plan to go here today, so we decided to go there first and see the seaside scenery here, which is also quite good. Not far away, there is a door blocking the way. There are people standing guard here, and you need to take a battery car to get in.
I am very lucky to meet an aunt Li who sells bamboo rice here. This is a very authentic bamboo rice. Wild boar and glutinous rice are baked in a bamboo tube, which smells delicious when opened. Bamboo rice is cooked by the Li family when they are out of town, hunting in the mountains or having guests from afar. It is also a very distinctive food in Hainan, so the original processing method looks very appetizing.
I asked the price, and only 1 yuan was required for one copy. I can't believe it. I confirmed that it was really only 1 yuan. We haven't seen the way to cook bamboo rice yet. First, peel off the skin of the bamboo tube with a wooden knife, and then make a few small openings on one side. When eating, just tear the upward bamboo pieces one by one. Very primitive, but very novel. Looking at such troublesome production techniques and eating methods, I don't think 1 yuan is enough for manual work. There are many kinds of bamboo rice, such as salty rice, black bean rice and game rice. We eat wild boar, which is also the best. The aroma of pork, glutinous rice and bamboo tube is mixed together, which makes people have an appetite. I should have eaten two more. It's a pity that one person is full after eating one, and the money for lunch is also saved.
Monkey Island is actually only a small part of Nanwan Peninsula. It is called "Monkey Island" because it is the only island macaque nature reserve in China. When I entered the gate, the first thing I saw was the Monkey Island Sculpture Square. A monkey is sitting on Darwin's Origin of Species, with a human skull in his hand, thinking. This sculpture is a replica of a gift sculpture given by Dr. Hammer, a famous American red capitalist, to Lenin, the leader of the former Soviet Union.
Monkey Island is a typical tropical scenery, which is not only suitable for the growth and reproduction of macaques, but also provides sufficient food for macaques. It's like a tropical botanical garden, with lush tropical plants everywhere, and it's also like a wildlife park. Because there are no cages here, many animals live naturally and primitive here. However, there is only one common animal here, that is, monkeys, and the number of monkeys is countless.
Although we can't make statistics, there are about 2,5 monkeys here, because they are national second-class protected animals. But they are the masters here, living in this natural biosphere managed by human beings. The whole Monkey Island is their territory, and we are just tourists.
The monkeys in Nanwan Monkey Island are much more docile than those in Emei Mountain. The monkeys in Emei Mountain are the fiercest monkeys I have ever seen. They are big and fat. As long as you see a bag on you, you will pounce on them and grab it. When you walk in front of them, you must have a stick in your hand, otherwise you won't feel safe at all. The monkeys here are so small that they don't pay much attention to tourists unless you take the initiative to feed them.
Although the monkeys here are relatively docile, there are still some things to pay attention to. For example, don't wear red clothes when you go to Monkey Island, or you will be jealous of the mother monkey and tear her clothes. Don't take things like plastic bags in your hands, or the monkeys will think it's food and come up for it. Don't look at monkeys for a long time, or you'll think you're teasing them and will bite and grab things at the meeting.
Walking on Monkey Island, you can see monkeys playing in groups on the grass, in the Woods and among branches. If a naughty monkey jumps on your shoulder (which often happens), don't be afraid, and don't bark and jump. Just open your hands to show that you have no food for it, and it will understand and leave by itself. Although the monkeys here are not aggressive, they are also very smart, so don't open the bags in front of them, such as camera bags and handbags. They'll think you're going to give them food, and they'll jump up and rob you.
You can buy one or two bags of peanuts and other food for the monkeys, but it is highly recommended that you feed the monkeys salty food. Anyone who has ever owned a dog should know. However, it should be noted that all the things in your hand should be fed to the monkey at one time. If you leave a little in your hand, the monkeys will think that you are teasing them, and it will be very passive for you to rush to grab it.
There is also a disharmony factor here, that is, the macaque welcoming honor guard led by the monkey captain holds the national flag high. In fact, the monkey is tied here. When the tourists came, the animal trainer knocked on the board, and the monkeys were forced to raise the flag. This is a project to entertain tourists. The monkey didn't want to, but he was tied up. If he didn't raise the flag, he had no choice but to be beaten. This is the cabbage given to them after raising the flag. I don't like this project very much. It should be against anyone's will to be forced to wear chains in this place that should be free, so these monkeys are in a bad mood, with fierce expressions and unfriendly to people.
There is also a bathing pool, which is a water park for macaques. You can see monkeys diving, swimming or diving, and have a good time.
In the acrobatic performance area, there are fixed-time performances, such as monkey walking a tightrope, monkey walking on stilts, monkey rings, monkey chair tops, and group monkey races. Especially the ultra-long-distance monkeys riding bicycles at high altitude and the monkeys riding seesaws, which are the first and unique ones in China. It is also the favorite project of most tourists. There will be no good seats if you arrive late, but it doesn't matter. You can wait for the next flight.
At the end of the cycling performance, a monkey didn't know whether he was angered or unhappy by the audience. When he throws a bike, he will get angry and the coach will hit him. As a result, more than a dozen monkeys threw bicycles together to help, and the scene was once chaotic. It's a pity that I was stupid enough to take pictures.
There are so many monkeys here that a few hours passed before you knew it. Line up and take the cableway back to Xincun pier on the other side. There are many people waiting in line, because at this time, most people have to wait at least an hour to go back. But you won't be lonely in the process of queuing, because there are countless monkeys jumping around overhead. If you bring food, you can feed the monkeys while waiting in line. Time flies. With a total length of 2,138 meters, the Monkey Island cableway is the longest cross-sea sightseeing cableway in China. It is like a colorful chain flying across Xincun Port, linking the mysterious South Bay Monkey Island, charming tropical harbor, rich folk customs and noisy fishing port customs into a string.
Looking around against the slow and refreshing sea breeze, the sea is vast, with green hills, clear water, beaches, coconut groves and charming coastal fishing ports at your feet. At first, it was just a beautiful sea view. When you turn the side blocked by the hillside, the scenery of the fishing raft will suddenly appear in front of you, which is extremely spectacular. This ropeway is an excellent place to enjoy the panoramic view of fishing rafts in Xincun Port. However, the speed of the ropeway is very fast, the fastest speed can reach 6m/s, and the whole journey takes only 7 minutes. The best angle above the fish steak is only 1-2 minutes, so you must hurry up if you take pictures.
the origin of yi family can be traced back to the Qin and Han dynasties. These small fishermen's families, who live by water and fish for a living, don't have big boats and can't sail, so they can only fish offshore. There is no place for them in the fishing port. At low tide, they leave cages and nets to catch some fish and shrimp. Their lives have changed with the tide.
According to the investigation and analysis of anthropologists, it is confirmed that the Yi people do not belong to an independent nation, but belong to the Han nationality as a general term for the water residents in the coastal areas of China. Their ancestral homes are mostly houseboats in Yangjiang, Panyu, Shunde and Nanhai counties, and now they are mainly distributed in coastal areas such as Yangjiang, Panyu, Shunde and Nanhai in Guangdong, Beihai and Fangchenggang in Guangxi and Sanya in Hainan.
The criss-crossing sea fishing rafts are not far from the land. Fishermen choose the sea surface where they want to live, then make a square with rubber fishing rafts, tie nets in the square for breeding, and build a small house where fishermen can live, where they can eat and live. This kind of small house, also called "Jane's shed", is a shack set up on the shore and by the water. It used to be a bamboo tile structure, but now it is also a light steel structure, and the furnishings are relatively simple.
the fishing raft is called the sea market, which is one of the eight scenic spots in ancient Lingshui. From the cableway overlooking the fishing raft in Xincun Port, the fishing raft cages are arranged in a "well" shape on the sea surface, and the cabins are scattered on the fishing raft. Fishermen eat and live in the cabin, and the "street" between fishing rafts comes and goes. A unique sea landscape is presented to people, that is, the sea pastoral of Nanwan Monkey Island fishing raft.
