When our party came to the chestnut forest, we saw that the fruit farmers were busy beating the ripe fruit balls on the chestnut tree with long poles, and the fruit balls fell one after another, while the women and girls were picking them up with earth baskets and dustpans ... The same reddish-brown face was filled with a self-sufficient smile.

Seeing our arrival, the hospitable fruit farmers held out the best chestnuts and invited us to taste them.
