Heyang sweet potato is an agricultural product with geographical indication.

Heyang has a long history of sweet potato cultivation and is of high quality. It dominates the market in northwest China.

According to county records, in the third year of the Republic of China, villagers in Nanshun Village, Xinchi Township introduced sweet potatoes and began to plant them sporadically.

In the 1960s and 1970s, in order to solve the shortage of food rations, sweet potatoes with higher yields were cultivated throughout the county.

In 1987, 105,000 acres of sweet potatoes were planted in the county, the largest planting area in history.

In 1996, the sweet potato film cultivation experiment was successful, with an average yield of 1,760 kilograms per mu, setting a record.

Geographical scope: The Heyang sweet potato protection area covers 61 administrative villages in the three towns of Xinchi, Heichi and Chengguan under the jurisdiction of Heyang County, Weinan City, Shaanxi Province, extending to Xingjiazhuang Village of Xinchi Town in the east, Lujiazhuang Village of Heichi Town in the south, and Lujiazhuang Village in Heichi Town in the west.

The geographical coordinates are 110°09′35.61″-110°12′21.77″ east longitude and 35°05′40.83″-35°08′57.45″ north latitude.

Product quality characteristics 1. External sensory characteristics: Heyang sweet potatoes are about 18-22mm long, 8-10mm in diameter, and weigh about 150-300g. The skin is purple-red, the flesh is light yellow, and the potato pieces are long and spindle-shaped.

The dry noodles are sweet, crispy when eaten raw, and have a strong chestnut flavor. They are the best among sweet potatoes.

2. Unique intrinsic quality indicators: Heyang sweet potatoes are rich in starch, crude fiber, soluble sugar, VA, VC, calcium, etc. The starch content per 100g is not less than 18.0g, and the crude fiber content is not less than 18.0g.
