1. Yan'an red dates. Anyone who has been to Yan'an will bring a few bags of red dates as gifts to relatives and friends. It can be said that you have never been to Yan'an if you have not eaten Yan'an red dates.

Yan'an red dates have been famous for a long time, especially the red dates in Yanchuan County are even more famous.

Tuanzao, Tiaozao and Doghead jujube have large fruits, thick flesh and sweet taste. They are excellent and high-quality dried and fresh varieties.

The crispy jujube produced, also known as Diaoya jujube, has large fruit, thin skin and red color, white and crispy flesh, and a sweet taste like honey. It is an excellent raw food variety, especially liked by women and children.

2. Buckwheat noodles are made from buckwheat into vermicelli shape and are delicious when paired with mutton soup.

There is a saying among the people in northern Shaanxi that "buckwheat noodles and mutton soup will keep up with each other in life and death".

Wuqi County and Zhidan County in Yan'an are rich in buckwheat, and the buckwheat noodles in these two places have the best taste.

3. Oil cake, also called rice cake and date cake, is one of the most representative local snacks in northern Shaanxi. It is golden in color, delicate and soft, and tastes sweet and delicious.

All hotels and restaurants sell them as local specialties.

Oil cakes are usually eaten during festivals or when entertaining relatives and friends, especially wedding banquets.

When eating, put it on a plate, ten pieces per plate, with sugar and powder soup.

4. For the fruit filling, mix the flour with oil and evenly, roll it into a long sheet, roll it up and press it into the dough, wrap it in the prepared filling, put it in the oven and bake it repeatedly until cooked.

The taste is crispy and sweet.

Varieties include date fruit filling, candy filling, bean paste fruit filling, etc.

5. Oil buns are round and ring-shaped. When fried, they turn golden like copper coins. They are a symbol of wealth and good luck in Yan'an folk customs.

The finished product is a small round cake with a hole in the middle, fried to a reddish brown color.

Oil buns are always served during feasts during festivals.
