Historically, Xiangyang was a beloved place. Heroes from all walks of life in the Three Kingdoms fought bloody battles for this place. The poets of the Tang Dynasty left behind their landscape poems about "Mountain scenery is beautiful and beautiful" and humanistic poems about "the past and the present". Modern martial arts novelists wrote poems for this place. The stories of Guo Jing, Huang Rong, Yang Guo and Guo Xiang. Nowadays, Xiangyang has firmly secured its position as the "second place" in Hubei Province, and the historical monuments that the locals are proud of are attracting "day trip" travelers.
Fancheng on the north bank of the Han River has Xiangyang Railway Station and Passenger Transport Center, as well as the busiest commercial district in the city. On the south bank, at first glance, Xiangyang Ancient City, which is not too "ancient", is a bit disappointing, and the Qing Dynasty buildings in Gulong are really far removed from the story of the Three Kingdoms. However, the ancient city wall is still there, and the framework, backbone and vitality of the historical city are still there. Scenic Spot Introduction
Xiangyang Ancient City
Compared with the Ming and Qing ancient city walls, which are 8.5 meters high and more than 7 kilometers long, the domineering moat system of Xiangyang Ancient City is even more amazing. The east, south and west sides are all artificially dug rivers, with the widest point being 250 meters; to the north is the water of the Han River - an impregnable water and land defense system that has won the title of "Iron-Forged Xiangyang City" and "The First City in China" Wait for a good reputation.
The plaque on the small north gate facing south says "North Gate Lock Key", and on the north side it says "Linhan Gate". The nearby Xiao Beimen Square is very lively in the evening and is suitable for sitting around and watching street dances. Practice martial arts, square dance, and even go down to the river to play billiards. Madame City (ticket: 5 yuan; 8:00~17:30) can be accessed from the climbing entrance next to the small north gate. It is the only scenic spot in Xiangyang City Wall, and the scenery along the Han River is particularly charming. There is a statue of a heroine in the westernmost pavilion - she is not Huang Rong, but Mrs. Han who really existed in history. She was the mother of Zhu Xu, a general in the Eastern Jin Dynasty. She led the women to build this city wall to withstand the raids of the former Qin army. There are cruise boats for rent at the northern ends of the East Moat and West Moat, and you can enjoy the ancient city wall by paddling.

You can go west from the small north gate, go up to the city wall at the northwest corner, and walk all the way south. There are beautiful lakes and mountains in the field of vision, and there are not many pedestrians. It is the best place to sit back and relax.
Laolong Embankment: This section of the stone embankment project on the south bank of the Han River, about 5 kilometers long, has a history that can be traced back to the Northern and Southern Dynasties. Exit the Dabei Gate, go east along the Laolong Embankment, and after passing the Han River Hydrological Detection Station, you can see a Qing Dynasty stone pillar with inscriptions recording the story of "The Widow Donated the Construction", so this section is also called the Widow's Embankment.
