Huiji District is located in the center of Henan Province, north of Zhengzhou and on the south bank of the Yellow River. The total area is 232.8 square kilometers. The total population is 140,000 (2002, simplified version). In 2004, the total population was 201,000.

Huiji District is located in the center of the Zheng-Bianluo golden tourist route and is rich in tourism resources. It is a national 4-scenic spot - the Yellow River Scenic Area - Huiji District

Scenic area and Huayuankou Scenic Area, Attractions such as Fujing Ecological Amusement World and Dahe Manor are dotted around; the history and culture are splendid, including the ancient city of Xishan, the first city in China, and ancient cultural relics such as the Iron Smelting Site of the Ancient Han Dynasty, Jixin Temple, Huayuankou Pajakou, and Huiji Long Bridge Relics Connected end to end; the Yellow River Guesthouse, Missing Guoling Landscape, Fengle Farm, and Four Seasons Tongda Ecological Park represent the highest level of conference services and reception in the province, and the development of the suburban tourism industry integrating "Yellow River customs, ecological leisure, and ancient Han culture" Swift and violent. The longest Yellow River highway bridge in Asia spans the north and south of the Yellow River, connecting the two sides. Land transportation arteries such as the Beijing-Zhuhai Expressway, Lianhuo Expressway, Beijing-Guangzhou Railway, and Beijing-Guangzhou Railway

National Highway 107 pass through it. Take Huayuan North Road, Wenhua North Road, Qinghuayuan Road, Tianhe Road, Jiangshan Road, and Guxu Road as the north-south direction, and take Dahe Road, Luyuan Road, Yingbin Road, Kaiyuan Road, Yingcai Street, and Xinliu Road as the east-west direction. On December 25, 2003, with the approval of the Ministry of Civil Affairs (Minhan [2003] No. 270): Mangshan District in Zhengzhou City was renamed Huiji District. The word "Huiji" means that the region has the meaning of "gathering blessings from all directions, equality and mutual benefit; attracting talents from all over the world, and harmoniously promoting economic development". On May 1, 2004, Mangshan District was officially renamed Huiji District. Ancient Huiji Town used to belong to Xingze County, then to Guangwu County in 1931, and in 1953 to the suburbs of Zhengzhou City.

On July 27, 2005, the Ministry of Civil Affairs approved (Minhan [2005] No. 182) to move the residence of the People's Government of Huiji District, Zhengzhou City from Nanyang Road, Jinshui District to Kaiyuan Road, Huiji District.

In March 2021, Huiji District ranked 17th on the 2021 Top 100 Counties and Cities with Chinese Specialty Food list.

In September 2020, the Food Safety Committee of the Henan Provincial Government named Huiji District as the third batch of food safety demonstration counties (cities, districts) in Henan Province.

In February 2016, Huiji District was included in the list of counties (cities, districts) with basically balanced development of compulsory education in the country in 2015.
