The whole poem is a masterpiece of chanting bamboo with careful structure, proper technique and sophisticated language.
Structurally, the first couplet is about cultivating bamboo, which shows the "cold and green" characteristics of Hsinchu. The two couplets in the middle share the responsibility of "containing the garden" and write about the joy of enjoying bamboo. Among them, Zhuan Lian inherits the word "cold" and describes the function of bamboo from the environmental aspect; Neck couplets inherit the word "Bi" and write about the growth of bamboo from their own aspects. The title of this poem is "Hsinchu", but there are no words "new" and "bamboo" in the whole poem. The poet has implied the word "new" by describing the behavior of "planting thorns and weaving hedges", describing the situation of "solving problems" and describing the feelings of "hearing" and "seeing at first sight". The images in Silian's works are all related to the word "bamboo", and all of them are permeated with the poet's favorite emotions. Writing in this way seems to be inseparable. As the saying goes, "A word that is inconsistent is full of romance." The whole poem is carried forward first, then inherited, first outside and then inside, with layers of bamboo shoots peeled and fine needle and thread.
In the description method, Zhonglian adopts the combination of front description and side description, and the combination of macro image and micro image. Parallel couplets describe the environment from the side, using macro images such as "breeze sweeping the floor" and "sunny". The neck couplet is written about growth, which is a positive description, using microscopic images such as "solving problems" and "letting go". The combination of front description and side description makes bamboo more stereoscopic. The combination of macro image and micro image is both magnificent and vivid. Such new bamboo can give people a variety of aesthetic feelings.
In the use of language, the use of dynamic words such as "prey", "line", "solution" and "release" enhances the sense of movement and image. The use of adverbs is also very distinctive. For example, the verbs "Wen" and "Jian" are modified with adverbs "Shi" and "Chu" respectively, which makes poetry more sensitive to time and space. The adverb "still" at the end of the sentence indicates that pillows are everywhere now and will be so in the future. A word "static" combines the present scene with the future scene and has rich meanings.
