Ciba is a traditional snack in southern China. It is mainly made of glutinous rice flour and water. It has a soft, elastic and sweet taste. Glutinous rice flour is a powder made from glutinous rice through cooking, grinding, sifting and other processes. Because of its strong stickiness, it can give glutinous rice cakes a unique taste and shape.
The glutinous rice cake is usually round or oblate, with a layer of glutinous rice flour on the surface. In some places, bean paste, sesame and other fillings are added to the glutinous rice cake to make the taste richer. Ciba can be eaten as breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea snack, or can be cooked with other ingredients, such as glutinous rice cake with sugar water, glutinous rice cake with fried meat, etc.
In addition to southern China, glutinous rice cakes also have similar foods in Southeast Asia, Japan and other regions, such as coconut milk glutinous rice cakes in Malaysia and mochi rice cakes in Japan.
