Since the Ming Dynasty, Shaojiu began to spread in Xinjiang, and developed rapidly during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty.

The brewing industry in Qitai County has a long history, and the ancient city liquor is famous far and wide.

By the 15th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty (1889), there were 13 shochu workshops.

The annual production and sales of liquor reached 140,000 jins. In the 1930s, the annual output of Qitai liquor reached 1 million jins. It became a bulk commodity and was sold in large quantities to nearby counties and even Lanzhou, Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi and other places.

Yilitqu Wine Appraisal Meeting Introduction In order to improve the quality of alcoholic products, Xinjiang held the first and second wine appraisal meetings in May 1979 and July 1983 respectively.

The third and fourth wine tasting sessions were held in 1988 and 1994 respectively.
