Brief introduction of pepper house
Jiao Fang, the name of the temple where the Empress of Weiyang Palace lived in the Western Han Dynasty, is also known as Jiao Fang. It was named after the wall was painted with pepper and mud (the wall was painted with powder made of pepper flowers, not red pepper, which was introduced to China in the late Ming Dynasty). (Suspected to be pepper powder "The Biography of Han Shu Cheqian Ball" Yan Shigu Note: "The name of Jiaofang Temple, the queen's residence, painted the wall with pepper mud to take its warmth." ) is also used as a synonym for empresses.
