Some consider "The Taste of Green Papaya" to be a Vietnamese version of the Cinderella story.

The Taste of Green Papaya tells the story of May, a young girl from a poor family who works as a maid in a large family. As time goes by, the original skinny little girl becomes a big beautiful girl and the story ends with May having a good homecoming.
