Burnt Immortal Grass is a traditional specialty drink in southwest Fujian Province, Fujian, of which the authentic ancient practice within China has grass directly burnt and boiled, while others are made with Immortal Grass Powder, Immortal Grass Liquid.

The immortal grass is said to be famous for the dried immortal grass from Jiuhua Mountain in Miaoli County, Taiwan. Decades ago people ate fairy grass mainly by cutting it into small cubes and simply adding sugar water and crushed ice. Although it was also served hot, it was better eaten frozen. Served with lentils soaked in sugar water and popped black pearls, the icy coolness calms the mind.

In summer, a bowl of ice-cold roasted fairy grass can remove all the stuffy blood from the internal organs, and it is the holy grail to beat the heat.

Legendary stories

Anciently, the sky was burning with ten suns, drying up the river, cracking the earth, and scorching the crops and grass. The valiant Hou Yi arrows, shot down nine suns at once, the Queen Mother of the Western Heaven in recognition of the valor Hou Yi to give his medicine to become immortal, unfortunately, his wife Chang'e ate the medicine, ran into the moon. Hou Yi stayed on earth and sighed to the sky.

The tormented Hou Yi ordered his soldiers to find 1,000 boys and girls to go to the island of immortals to pick the grass of the immortals, so that the people are all frightened, the soldiers centrifugal, Hou Yi was heartbroken, devastated, and died in the sky. Soon after, a kind of grass sprouted on Hou Yi's grave and quickly multiplied all over the place. This kind of grass can cool down the heat, clear the heart and remove the fire, and the people called it Immortal Grass.
