Kanas Lake is located in Kanas Nature Reserve in Altay Mountain area in northern Xinjiang, bordering Kazakhstan and Russia in the north and Mongolia in the east, and located in Brzin, a small border county. Kanas Lake is an alpine lake formed by Quaternary glaciation, with low nutritional content. In the past, people always thought that there could be no big creatures. However, local herders have always said that there is a giant "water monster" in the lake, which often drags horses drinking water by the lake. 1980, the sighting of the water monster was published in Guangming Daily, which attracted the attention of people from all walks of life.
