Field management of green asparagus
Asparagus should pay attention to the management of newly planted seedlings, the removal of female flowers and fruits, irrigation and topdressing, major pests and diseases, and harvesting.

(1) Newly planted seedlings

Topdressing can be applied one month after planting, mainly with clear manure water, and the concentration can be appropriately increased once in the next two months, and the soil can be loosened to weed, combined with shallow intertillage soil cultivation 1 ~ 2 times to prevent root exposure, and all the young stems growing in the same year should be preserved.

(2) removing flowers and fruits of female plants

Female plants consume a lot of nutrients when they bloom and bear fruit, which affects the annual output of the current year and the following year, so they should be pulled out as soon as possible.

(3) Irrigation and topdressing

Irrigation should be ensured during the bamboo shoot picking period, and it should not be affected by drought. Generally, irrigation is carried out every 7 ~ 10 days, and the yield is the highest after 3 ~ 4 years. Autumn fertilizer and winter fertilizer, mainly organic fertilizer, should be applied once a year. Pay attention to avoid partial application of nitrogen fertilizer, and rationally mix nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.

(4) Main pests and diseases

There are many diseases and insect pests that harm asparagus, among which stem blight is the most harmful, in addition to brown spot, rust, root rot and so on. The main pests are Spodoptera litura, black cutworm, grub and so on.

(5) Harvest

A small amount can be harvested from the second year. Every morning or evening, when the tender stem 1.5 ~ 20cm high, cut it off from the soil surface at 1 ~ 2cm with a sharp knife and wrap it with a wet towel. All tender stems, big or small, must be harvested at each harvest.
