2. The snakehead is a fierce benthic carnivorous fish. It usually likes to live in shallow water with weeds at the bottom of the coastal mud, lurks in the weeds and waits for opportunities to hunt for food, and sometimes swims in the upper layer of the water at night. Larvae feed on zooplankton; Young fish feed on aquatic insects, shrimp and small fish; Adult fish prey on other fish. Distributed in various water systems in China (not reported in Xinjiang and Tibet), North Korea, Japan, Southeast Asia, India and Russian Far East.
