Mugwort (scientific name: Artemisia argyi? Levl. et Van), is a plant of the family of Asteraceae, Artemisia, perennial or slightly semi-shrubby, the plant has a strong aroma. The main root is obvious, slightly thick and long, up to 1.5 cm in diameter, with many lateral roots. Stems solitary or few, 80-150(-250) cm tall. Distributed in Mongolia, Korea, Russia (Far East), and China; widely distributed, almost throughout China except in very arid and alpine regions. Cultivated in Japan. Born in low to medium altitude areas of wasteland, roadsides, riversides and slopes, but also in the forest steppe and grassland areas, local areas for the dominant species of plant communities.
