Scientific name: Nephelium lappaceum L.
English name: Rambutan
Nephelium plant in the Sapindaceae family. There are 38 species in this genus, and 3 species are cultivated as fruits. It is native to the Malay Archipelago and is cultivated in many countries in Southeast Asia. It has also been introduced in some countries in Central America, Africa, Oceania and the United States. It was introduced to Taiwan in 1915, and from 1930 to 1960 it was introduced to Hainan and Xishuangbanna, Yunnan for cultivation. It can all bloom and bear fruit, but the fruiting is more normal in the southern and southeastern parts of Hainan Island.
