Whether it's for a weekday lunch or to satisfy a traveler's hunger, fast food is of course unavoidable. If fast food is limited to McDonald's, then nothing can be said about the high class. The good news is that there are plenty of options for fast food.
The first common fast food in North America is the burger (Hamburger).
The word "burger" is usually shortened to "burger", and very few people say "hamburger" as a full name in spoken English, even though it is often written only as "burger" on the menu of fast-food restaurants and regular restaurants, and it was misunderstood as "handbag" more than 10 years ago when I first went abroad.
In detail, the burger should be regarded as a sandwich (sandwich) of a kind. Any two slices of bread with some fillings can be collectively referred to as sandwiches, hot or cold. But the definition of the burger to be much more strict, can be called a burger must be hot food, the middle of the sandwich must be made of ground meat patties (patty), and patties are usually the default is beef. In addition to the beef patty, the burger can also have additional toppings in the center. Cheese is almost mandatory, most commonly orange cheddar cheese; some burgers are made to be half-melted when heated, and white mozzarella cheese or Swiss cheese is usually used; the meatless type can have two patties, like a McDonald's Big Mac, or a couple of slices of grilled meat, or a couple of slices of meat from the grill. You can also add a couple of slices of bacon, crispy and toasted. Vegetarian dishes include tomato, lettuce, onion and mushrooms. There are also pickles, such as pickles (pickle or pickled cucumber), green sweet and sour relish, very spicy Mexican chili jalapeno pepper and so on. The more innovative ways to eat it will offer the option of adding avocado, grilled pineapple or mango. There are also sauces to choose from, ketchup, mayonnaise (mayo for short), yellow mustard, bbq sauce, and honey garlic.
With all the ingredients layered on top of each other, the McDonald's Big Mac is just child's play, and the headline image is far more over-the-top: a burger named after the New Testament apocalypse from a Toronto chain called Burger Priest.
The burger is usually served with fries or onion rings, but a healthier and more flavorful option is sweet potato fries. A spiced up version of fries is fries topped with gravy. Canada's unique and more sophisticated snack is called a poutine, which is made with cheese on top of the fries and gravy, and can be topped off with crispy chicken, bacon, or pulled pork, which is a whole rack of ribs roasted with the bones removed and only the meat left on. A poutine is actually a very filling fast food meal on its own. It's very tasty, and the calories can be brainstormed.
Similar to burgers, but much simpler, are hot dogs, usually sold at street stalls. There are not many choices of buns, and the main choices of sausages are sausage (sausage, pork-based), all-beef sausage (all beef), and Polish sausage (Polish sausage, kind of like red sausage, but drier). The vendor gives you the grilled sausage in a bun, with the other toppings on the side for the diner to add. In addition to onions, relish, and pickled peppers, there's usually sauerkraut (German sauerkraut), which looks and tastes similar to northeastern sour cabbage.
As mentioned earlier, burgers are just one offshoot of sandwiches, and a large number of sandwiches are fast food staples. The fast food chain bigger than McDonald's is none other than SUBWAY. His family ordering is now more and more pictorial and convenient. The first step is to choose bread: white bread (white), whole wheat (whole wheat or wheat), multi-grain bread (multi-grain, his family is 9 grain), Italian herbs (Italian herbs), cheese bread (cheese) and so on. The first time I came to the U.S. when ordering in the store was asked "white or wheat" did not understand, and later is to see the physical talk to understand, now Subway will be a variety of bread pictures and the name of the counter, there will be no such embarrassment. Then I chose my meat. There are all kinds of cold meat (cold cut), also known as cooked meat (deli), including chicken (chicken, which is like ham cut into pieces of cooked chicken), ham (ham), turkey (turkey) and so on. There are also hot meats such as meatballs (meat ball, usually beef meatballs) and steak (steak, beef cut into small pieces). Then there is a choice of cheese, vegetables and sauces. If you don't like cold food, these sandwiches can usually be asked to be heated up (heat up), and the clerk will put the finished sandwiches inside an electric skillet for a quick grill.
Italian-style sandwiches, called panini, are also toasted in this way and eaten hot. The bread is usually square or triangular in shape, a little harder, and has a lot of spices in it.
A riff on the sandwich is the variety of wraps (wraps), which are also stuffed, but instead of using bread, they are rolled up and eaten with a large, round piece of bread. Popular in Greece, the Middle East and other Mediterranean regions, pita (pita) is a typical representative of the rolls. A common way to eat them is to roll them in skewers. Greek skewers are called souvlaki and Middle Eastern skewers are called kebab, and they are similar, with the main difference being that the Greeks marinate the meat in lemon juice while the Middle Easterners don't add acidic flavoring, and that souvlaki is generally all-meat, while kebab is sometimes served with a piece of vegetable in between the two pieces of meat. These skewers are made of chicken, beef, and lamb. In addition to the meat, they are served with salad, sauerkraut, sour cream, and sauce. Sometimes the pita is used to roll up the meat, and sometimes it is cut open like a little pocket to wrap the meat and vegetables in.
One special type of pita roll is shawarma, a Turkish barbecue sold in many Chinese cities in the 1980s, which is the meat used to make shawarma. An electric oven, the center of a metal column, meat layer by layer hanging on the top to form a huge column of meat, column clockwise slowly rotating, meat in the top of the grill nourishing oil. When eating, the master uses a long knife to cut off a number of quantities of meat wrapped in pita bread.
Another very popular roll is the Mexican burrito, which is made with a crust called tortilla, which, unlike the pita, is unleavened and is a paper-thin crust rather than a small pastry like the pita. The contents of the rolls include a variety of meats, but it is essential to add some rice and a large reddish bean. Sauce is also different, Mexican sauce is called salsa, there are different degrees of spiciness, basically not spicy called mild, medium spicy medium, spicy called spicy.
Eating fast food is the most important thing is to be fast, queuing up at peak times is disgusting. The United States and Canada on wheels, fast food restaurants often do not have to stop to buy food drive through, the car stopped in front of a large menu display, through the walkie-talkie to the waiter to order food, drive to the front of a window can pay the bill to get the food. Convenience is really convenient, and the functionality of fast food is emphasized beyond words.
Nowadays, in the era of Internet+, how can fast food not have an APP? Personally, I feel that the best food ordering APP in Toronto is RITUAL. At least in the financial district where I work, it is estimated that one-third to one-half of fast food stalls have already used RITUAL, and after ordering a good meal and then paying with a credit card inside the APP, the shopkeeper will give feedback to the APP to prepare the meal and take the time, and then the APP may take the time to prepare the meal according to your needs. After ordering and paying by credit card, the store will send feedback to the APP on the approximate time needed to prepare the food, and then the APP will send a text message to remind you of the time to pick up the takeaway according to the distance of your location from the restaurant. When you bypass the long lunchtime queues and run straight to the counter to get your takeaway, you'll feel better about yourself in the eyes of others.
