Jackfruit is a tropical fruit tree and cannot grow in the north.
Jackfruit is distributed vertically below 300 meters above sea level. It needs a high temperature, humid, and frost-free climate. It is suitable for growing when the annual average temperature is above 22-24℃, the average temperature of the coldest month is not lower than 12℃, the absolute low temperature is not lower than 0℃, and the annual accumulated temperature is above 7500℃. Areas with rainfall of 1200-1800 mm.
Seedlings and saplings are sensitive to low temperature. When the radiation-type low temperature reaches 0℃, cold damage will occur to the terminal buds and leaves, and withering will occur when the temperature drops to -2℃. When the advection low temperature occurs and the daily average temperature is 9°C, adult trees will suffer severe freezing damage.
More than 50 days of rainy and low-temperature weather (8.9°C) occurred in the production area, and many plants froze to death. It has moderate drought resistance. Fruits often fall due to prolonged drought. Excessive rain during the flowering period also affects pollination.

Seed collection
Jackfruit trees bear fruit in 6-8 years; they reach their peak fruiting period in 30 years, which can be divided into small and large years. It usually blooms from February to March and matures from July to August. In some places, there are two flowers and two crops a year.
The mother tree for seed collection should be fast-growing, early-fruiting, and high-yield. At the same time, the fruit should be selected from the lower part of the trunk, with large fruit, thick and sparse skin and fleshy spines, and thick and fleshy flesh. The fruit should be left for a few days. ;
Soften the fruit, then break it open and take out the seeds, wash them with water and dry them in the shade. The seeds are not storage-resistant and can only remain viable for about 20 days, so they should be sown as they are harvested.
