The pinyin of the bamboo basket is pǒ luo, which means a container made of bamboo strips or wicker branches.
Weaving technology
1. Swing strips: The swing strips of a dustpan are basically the same as a dustpan, except that there is no "tongue", and wicker is used from the beginning. Small utensils such as needlework baskets, cigarette baskets, and safety helmets require umbilical cords and molds. When the pendulum bar reaches half way, put the umbilical cord into the starting warp, with the wood piece underneath, and the rope above the weft bar, and continue the pendulum bar until it is as wide as the bottom.
2. Continued weaving: Just like a thread dustpan, use warp threads to weave the weft strips according to the rules of picking one, pressing one, and pressing one, picking one. For small bamboo baskets such as thread baskets, cigarette baskets, etc., after weaving the bottom, place the mold on the bottom, and thread the umbilical cord through the holes on the beam of the mold to fix it.
3. Pulling the gills: After the mold is fixed, start "pull the gills" to close the sides. Use molds to standardize the shape of the gang to make it more symmetrical and beautiful. When a dustpan is used to "pull the gills", the movement of the warp threads is basically the same as when the dustpan is used to "pull the gills". When the height is high enough, "cut the stubble", then remove the mold and umbilical cord, and start to line the eaves.
When threading large utensils such as large baskets, glutinous rice baskets, pork kidney baskets, etc., no umbilical cords and molds are used, but the work is done by eye and all by the skill of the hands. When the thread basket is pulled up, the editor sits on the bottom and weaves the warp threads. When threading the basket or pig kidneys to pull the basket, the weaver squats on the bottom or steps on the bottom with his feet.
The measuring bucket is a kind of grain measuring instrument with a slightly larger belly and a slightly smaller mouth, which is similar to a cylinder. The diameter of the mouth is only about 6 inches. It is neither possible to use a mold nor to sit and squat to pull the gills. It can only be measured by hand. Hands and legs squeezed to pull the cheeks. The volume of the grain bucket must be relatively accurate. In addition to mastering the diameter of the belly and mouth based on experience, the size must be measured before cutting.
4. Decoration: After weaving the sewing basket and tobacco basket, and cutting the stubble, decorate the eaves using a method similar to the line dustpan eaves. A whole wattle stick is used on the inside of the gang, and a broken half of the wattle stick is used on the outside. The wattle sticks are tied to the gang with a cone and willow wire. After pulling the gill, there will be a gap at both ends parallel to the weft strip. When threading the eaves, the willow thread will cross the gap and pass through the weft strip to cover the gap. The willow thread should be spread flatly when it reaches the eaves, and the pieces should be close together so that no wicker stubble is leaked.
Large utensils and grain buckets such as large bamboo baskets, glutinous rice baskets, pork kidney baskets, etc. do not use willow wire eaves, but use thin wooden boards to wrap the eaves. After the sides of the basket are aligned, the inner and outer sides are fixed with willow thin plates 1.5 to 2 inches wide and about 3 minutes thick.
The thin wooden board should be about 2 minutes higher than the stubble on the side of the basket. Cover the stubble with a piece of wattle broken in half, and fix it together with the thin wooden board on the side of the bamboo basket. The fixing method is to use a straight awl or a pull drill to drill holes in the wooden boards and weft strips, and use a cone to guide the rattan wires to fix them.
