Catfish [nián]

[~fish] has a large head with a wide mouth, a rounded and short tail, mucousy skin, no scales, a pale black dorsum, a white belly, and four whiskers in the upper and lower jaws. It ambles in the mud by day and emerges at night. The meat is edible and the swim bladder is used as medicine.
