Mouth large; anterior end of upper and lower jaws with small okapi or absent, teeth on both sides finely pointed, posterior margin of anterior gill cover bone serrate, lower margin smooth. Posterior margin of gill cover bone with 3 flat spines. Caudal fin rounded. Head and dorsal side of body yellowish brown, ventral side pale white; head, lateral side of body and odd fins scattered with many orange-brown or reddish brown dots; lateral side of body with 5 additional inconspicuous, irregular, oblique and ventrally forked dark transverse bands, the first one on the anterior margin of dorsal fin spine, the last one on caudal peduncle.

Habitat depth of up to 100 meters, body length of up to 120 centimeters, living in turbid waters of the reef area waters, semi-saline waters ferocious. Carnivorous, to small fish and small benthic invertebrates. With sex change, for the first female and then male.
