Habits of soft-shelled turtle
(1) Soft-shelled turtle is an amphibious reptile that inhabits the bottom of the water. They mainly live in water, and only climb ashore when spawning and foraging in summer. It breathes through its lungs and exhales through its nostrils. Most of them are wild and widely distributed. From south to north, it exists in rivers, streams and reservoirs. In recent years, in southern Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, there are not a few professional households who raise turtles artificially. They like to live in the waters with beaches or hillsides on the shore.
(2) The soft-shelled turtle mainly eats animal bait. The turtle has no teeth, but it has a hard gum, which can crush all kinds of food. Small fish, shrimp, insects, frogs, mussels, snail meat, grasshoppers, earthworms, animal internal organs are all its delicacies, and sometimes it eats plant seeds. It also preys on insects, grasshoppers, frogs and earthworms.
(3) Soft-shelled turtles lay eggs in late spring and early summer every year and climb to the shore to build nests. The eggs laid are covered with soil, and they often hide nearby to peep. Soft-shelled turtles are active in June and July, and often surface to bask in the sun in calm days, and climb to the shore to enjoy the cool in the dead of night. The appetite is greatest in July, August and September. Very greedy, easy to fish. 10 months later, I hid at the bottom of the deep water and prepared to hibernate until March of the following year.
(4) Turtles like clean water, flowing water, a sandy and muddy bottom and a quiet leeward side. Afraid of disturbance, cold and strong wind. Its visual, auditory and olfactory organs are very sensitive, especially to the fishy smell of animal viscera. It also has the ability to judge the direction of escape.
(5) Soft-shelled turtle is also a temperature-changing animal, and its food intake is closely related to the water temperature, and it is large when the water temperature is 20~32 degrees Celsius; When it is below 20 degrees Celsius, the food intake decreases; Do not eat below 15 degrees Celsius. In summer, when the water temperature exceeds 33 degrees Celsius, the appetite decreases. During the day, people hide under the water or in the shade for summer, and go ashore at night to find food. In winter, when people dive into the water and can't eat anything, they hibernate until the end of the hibernation period in March of the following year. Every summer and autumn is the golden season for turtle fishing.
