The red zebra is 4-6 cm long and has a spindle-shaped body. The back is olive-colored, and there are several silver-blue vertical stripes on the sides of the body extending from behind the gill cover to the tail. The anal fin also has vertical stripes similar to the body color, and the tail fin is long and forked. The male fish has lemon-colored vertical stripes; the female fish has blue vertical stripes plus silver-gray vertical stripes.
This fish inhabits streams, ditches or still water. It can lay eggs once every 2 to 3 days, with more than 200 eggs each time. It is omnivorous and feeds on insects and small crustaceans. Wait for food. They have a gentle temperament and like to travel in groups, usually in small groups. It is native to streams distributed in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Myanmar, and Nepal.
