3. Honey making: First put the honey in a pot, heat it until it boils, pour in the clean hawthorn, fry over a slow fire until it is no longer sticky to your hands, take it out and let it cool. For every 100kg of hawthorn, 16.6kg of refined honey is used ("Hunan").
4. Preparation of brown sugar: Dissolve the brown sugar with an appropriate amount of hot water, filter and remove the residue, put it in a pot and heat it until it boils, pour in the clean hawthorn, and stir-fry over a slow fire until it is thick enough. Remove and let cool. For every 100kg of hawthorn, use 25kg of brown sugar ("Yunnan").

「Modern Research」
1. Burnt hawthorn and raw hawthorn have strong inhibitory effects on Shigella flexneri, Shigella sonnei, Proteus, and Escherichia coli. There is no obvious difference between the two. The antibacterial effect of its ethanol extract is greater than that of the water decoction (Shandong Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine, etc.: Chinese Herbal Medicine Communication, (3): 31, 1973).
2. Use a rice mill to remove hawthorn cores, and achieved extremely satisfactory results. The medicinal materials are fed from the rice mill to the place where the bran is collected during rice milling and the coarse powder of hawthorn skin and flesh is collected. The original outlet for collecting rice is the outlet of hawthorn core. The core removal rate (dried product) is 60, increasing the efficacy by more than 2 times. This method is suitable for preparing Chinese patent medicines (Feng Yinhai: Research on Chinese Patent Medicines, (6): 43, 1982).
