Mi Fang, the younger brother of Mi Zhu, followed Liu Bei for many years. Cao Cao once named him Peng Chengxiang, but he resigned from his post and continued to follow Liu Bei to all directions. Later, he served as the satrap of Nanjun under Guan Yu, but he took refuge in Sun Quan and betrayed Guan Yu, which led to his ruin. Guan Yu was defeated and killed because of his betrayal.
Elk Fang's surrender was also despised by Wu people. Once, Mufang traveled by boat and met Yu Fan's boat. The people on Mufang's boat wanted Yu Fan to get out of the way and shouted forward: "Avoid our general's boat!" Yu Fan snapped, "Why should a man who has lost his loyalty serve the monarch? Can you make people lose two cities and call them generals? " Elk Fang was so ashamed that she closed the window on the boat and let Yu Fan pass first. Later, Yu Fan traveled by car and passed the camp of Mufang, but the officials did not open the door, so Yu Fan's chariots and horses could not pass. Yu Fan said angrily, "What should be opened is closed, and what should be closed is opened. How can you do this?" After hearing this, the elk became even more ashamed. In 223 AD (the second year of Huang Wu), Sun Quan ordered Heqi to raid Qichun, followed by Elk Fang and others, and finally won.
In the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms, the image of Elk Fang is similar to the official history, but the ending is different. Initially, with his elder brother, Zhu Shi, he herded Tao Qian in Xuzhou. After Tao Qian died, Liu Bei led Xuzhou. Elk Fang and Elk Zhu followed Liu Bei. In the battle of Changbanpo, Mufang was seriously injured and mistakenly thought that Zhao Yun had voted for Wei, so he told Liu Bei. Yizhou pacified and took Mifang as the satrap of Nanjun, which was related to Guan Yu. Guan Yu was angry and blamed for drinking and catching fire with Fu Shiren. Later, he was afraid of Guan Yu and voted for Wu, which led to Guan Yu's defeat. When Liu Bei attacked Wu, the two men killed Ma Zhong and went to Shu again. Liu Bei angered Guan Xing and stripped them of their clothes, and ordered them to kill themselves with a knife in memory of Guan Yu.
