Hanyu Pinyin Alphabet

Hanyu Pinyin (汉语拼音) (Hànyǔ Pīnyīn; English: Chinese Pinyin, Hanyu Pinyin, or Chinese Phonetic Alphabets), abbreviated as Pinyin, is a phonetic Latinization scheme for Chinese characters of the People's Republic of China (PRC), which was developed in 1955 It was developed by the Hanyu Pinyin Program Committee of the former China Text Reform Committee (now the State Language and Literature Working Committee) during the 1955-1957 text reform. The pinyin scheme is mainly used for the notation of Mandarin Chinese pronunciation, as a kind of Mandarin phonetic symbol for Chinese characters.On October 1, 2012, the new Hanyu Pinyin orthography rules were officially implemented.
